Crime Scene: Green Poisontakes players to Westchester County after a dead body washes up on a local riverbank. The initial police report noted “death by drowning,” but could not rule out whether this was an accident or a homicide. The players have been contacted by Betty Barker, whose husband is a prime suspect for the potential murder because he has no alibi for the time when the murder is alleged to have occurred.

As a team, players must analyze the contents of the case file, which includes the initial police report, letters, photographs, and a multitude of other documents. As with the other releases in theHidden Games Crime Sceneproduct line, no detail is too small: every piece of information is a possible lead, and connections must be made as players uncover each new piece of evidence. Anyone who enjoys solving puzzles and mysteries will enjoy this immersive deduction game!

As always, the investigation is multidimensional as players gather their data. Scour the internet to track down supporting evidence, use the included testing kit and sample to identify potential toxins, and listen to witness testimonies. There is also an informant who can provide assistance remotely, via online messages. Players can keep track of the facts, potential alibis, and motives of each on the included evidence board.

For this investigation, players will need internet access and it is recommended that a phone, tablet, or computer be available. The game is suitable for players aged 14 and over, and we recommend between 1.5 and 3 hours to complete this case (which can be played straight through or split between into multiple sessions). If playing with a larger group or family, it is possible to support younger players as they assist with the detective work, assuming you are comfortable with the criminal elements of a murder mystery narrative.
